Island Files
Photographic Print Zine
This zine features a collection of photographic artworks that capture my experiences and interactions with the local community during my five-month stay in Bali, Indonesia, in 2022. What drew me to this island was the light and uplifting spirit of both the environment and its people, along with the deep integration of art into their daily lives. Through my lens, I aimed to highlight moments of warmth, purity, and connection as seen through the eyes of my subjects.
I became particularly interested in how we can communicate and bond with others, even without shared language. The simple act of eye contact and body language has a powerful ability to bridge gaps and create meaningful connections. These photographs not just the faces of the people I encountered, but also the silent conversations and emotions that transcend words. My hope is that viewers will feel the essence of these moments and appreciate the universal connections we share, despite our different backgrounds. This project celebrates the beauty of human interaction and the stories that emerge from each glance and gesture.
