The spirit of Damascus
Screen Printing
297 mm x 420 mm
In this project, I used screen printing to express my hometown identity. In this project, I presented a printed painting with a unique character about the city of Damascus. By delving into its details, handicrafts, and arts specific to the city, such as mosaics, copper engraving, mosaics, embroidery, and Damascene fabric, taking into account that the city of Damascus is one of the oldest cities in the world and the oldest capital in history. My goal in this project is to reveal the civilization and beauty of the city of Damascus by focusing on its smallest and deepest details and sharing it with others I produced this piece in an abstract way, using hues inspired by Damascene mosaic art to convey my sense of place and belonging. I chose this work to be displayed in the RMIT Library, a place full of cultural and civilizational diversity. Students from all over the world meet in one place without restrictions or differences. My goal is to highlight the identity of the city that I love and belong to, introduce it to others, and make them live an exploratory journey of its details.
