Sprayed Silhouettes
Spray paint on paper as a folded zine. Featuring a shell from the process, immortalised in clay.
My art practice spans print, sculpture, textiles, illustration, painting and murals. I investigate the intersection of traditional painting techniques combined with my recent exploration of spray paint.
In this project, I focus on silhouettes of seashells collected from Williamstown Beach, integrating elements of local fauna to reflect nature's healing energy. My series began with Sprayed Silhouettes, a series of 27, which led me to experiment with layering and patterns by moving the shells, creating their own print trail of movements. The different layers of colour allowing the interaction between them to transform as they mix.
For our second-year cohort exhibition, 'Hot Off the Press.' I am presenting 15 original artworks from my Sprayed Silhouettes series of 27, transformed into folded zines. Each zine is accompanyed by a seashell encapsulated in clay, highlighting its silhouette with its speckled dots that echo its spray-painted silhouette.
