Light and Shadow
Paper, digital print, dragon book structure
The Dragon Book is a vibrant exploration of color and imagery, showcasing 332 solar fast prints that embody the interplay of light and shadow. Each print, derived from black-and-white negatives captured in Melbourne, has been meticulously scanned, resized, and reassembled into a cohesive digital composition. Printed and cut into individual pieces, the book features two distinct sides that invite interaction and contemplation.
One side transitions from red to purple, while the other flows from purple back to red, each containing 166 prints that reflect the dynamic nature of light. When the Dragon Book lies flat, viewers encounter only a colorful strip, hinting at the richness within. However, as they flip through the pages, the full spectrum of images emerges, revealing the intricate details and emotional nuances of each print.
This interactive format encourages a deeper engagement with the work, inviting viewers to experience the transformative qualities of light and color. Ultimately, the Dragon Book serves as a tactile reminder of the beauty found in the ephemeral moments of existence, celebrating the dualities of perception and the ever-changing nature of reality.
