Paths Vol 1 is a photographic essay documenting the decaying surface textures of deceased Eucalypts in local bushland. The work embodies a duality of meaning, exploring paths seen and unseen - reflecting on human interconnection with nature and the transient flow of energy, time, and emotion.
Compiled from mobile phone images from the past year, my zine contains a poetic sentiment handwritten and scanned: whenever i am lost i find myself here—A rumination on my need to connect and immerse myself in nature to restore emotional and physical wellbeing. The insert is digitally printed on tracing paper to imbue a delicate feel, and the cover blind embossed on rag paper using a recycled copper plate.
When handling my zine, I hope for the viewer to become lost in detail, travelling the paths with their eyes and hands—echoing my own experience of investigating texture and detail in the environment.
By releasing an open-ended series of limited edition zines, I aim to encourage viewers to return to the space, collect future volumes, and help build a sense of community and exchange through the shared experience of art in the library setting.
