'Lost Affinity 2024'
Graphite on paper, rods, acrylic paint, jump rings.
‘Lost Affinity’ explores the broken relationship between humanity and other living beings, those we have forgotten in modern society. Yet we are yearning to feel, to be made alive by emotion. The inflicted numbness of social media addiction, lost communal operating, and disconnection to what is real has led to feelings of isolation, disembodiment and lack of emotion. This drawing explores the underlying connection between all living beings, which is embodied through abstract shapes, representing that connection. These shapes overlap the eyes, drawing bridges between these lost friendships. This composition intentionally blurs the lines between human and animal, illustrating our dependence on connectedness for our emotional and physical survival.
